Philadelphia self-taught artist Jim Bloom combines text with dynamic drawing, painting, and tactile mixed media collage to portray his powerful experiences and personal vision.  Using masterfully complex, subtle color when painting his figures, Bloom places them against bold, simple backgrounds.  People, relationships, stories, and situations are the focus of the work, which evokes deeply affecting and often conflicting emotions.
