McCord worked on the family farm until 1976. He then cut grass for the city of Thomson in the summer and drove truck in the winter.
He usually paints on large plywood panels with acrylic house paint. His animals, people and houses are flat, two-dimensional and upfront. The childlike quality and simplistic innocence achieved are universal and individualistic.
