He attended first grade. Marzan moved to Manhattan in 1937 and eventually brought over his 5 children. He was a stuffer of dolls until his retirement in 1971.

Marzan never visited the Statue of Liberty but saw the cover of Time Magazine in 1976 and decided he could make a copy.

He used “as found” objects such as hangers, glass, glue caps, etc. to create his figures. He has made figures of birds, people and prehistoric animals from plaster of paris and aluminum foil.
