This figure is shown in A.W. Pendergast's book Cigar Store Figures, 1953. The book states that this figure originated in Pekin, Illinois, and was in the process of restoration by the author during the writing of the book. It was purchased in the Andrews Sale at Sotheby Parke-Bernet in 1980.
